Archeo Design is a methodological design approach created with the aim of highlighting the value of the relationship between design and ancient culture, conceived by Professors Elisabetta Furin and Maddalena Vantaggi of the Pietro Vannucci Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, in collaboration with Maria Angela Turchetti, director of MANU, the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria in Perugia.
With this in mind, the Academy goes from being a teaching institution to becoming a place of research for the construction of new methodologies in the field of design culture.
Archeo Design is a tool for reinterpreting the past which, through the culture of design, enables the return of new forms, functions, processes, behaviors and more sustainable future scenarios, with a focus on the social and cultural dimensions of everyday life.
This project aims to make itself a critical and methodological synthesis of a cultural and historical context by analyzing the design actions of other designers who have dealt with the ancient.
The goal of Archeo Design is thus to develop in the designer the ability to critically reread archaeological finds through design that can capture and enhance the good practices of past civilizations that were closer to the rhythms of nature and to a less mediated social life.
Indeed, in the everyday life of ancient peoples lie our roots, from which we draw for the rediscovery of a present that we have the opportunity to change into a different future.
