Accademia di Belle Arti Lecce

The Lecce Academy of Fine Arts, the oldest of the three academies in Apulia, has been located since the 1970s in the Convent of the Dominican Preacher Fathers, erected at the behest of Giovanni d’Aymo in the 14th century and rebuilt during the 18th century by Emanuele Manieri, to whom we owe the current facies.
The Institution’s fundamental objective is to enhance the creative talent of students by introducing teaching strategies and research activities capable of stimulating individual expression and design skills, which are the basis of every artistic path.
Through the activities carried out by the Visual Arts and Design and Applied Arts departments, perfectly balanced between practical and theoretical disciplines, students acquire the culture of savoir-faire combined with historical-critical knowledge.
An indispensable asset for the Academy is represented by the invaluable opportunity for confrontation between different realities and cultures thanks to the presence of a large group of non-European students, mostly from China.
The restyling of the library, the digitalisation and the expansion of the educational offer show the dynamic profile of the historic institution, which is keen to invest in innovation and dialogue with the territory with the aim of creating opportunities for cultural exchange and development.
