Accademia di Belle Arti Carrara

The Carrara Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1769 and has undergone several transformations over the years.
From 1923 to 1969 the legislation underwent few changes but, starting in 1970, optional and later compulsory special courses were introduced into the Academy’s curriculum.
With the reform of the legislation, the Academy expanded its curriculum, introducing new curricula and increasing the number of courses.
The Academy currently offers ten three-year and eight two-year specialised schools, with a focus on digital innovation.
In addition to teaching, the Academy is involved in numerous cultural initiatives on a national and international level.
It has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Marina Abramović, Maurizio Cattelan, Cai Guo-Qiang and Jeff Koons.
It has also initiated cultural exchange projects with international institutions and participated in the New European Bauhaus project.
The Summer School and the National Arts Award are other significant initiatives promoted by the Academy.
